Independent assessments, security master planning and workplace violence prevention support for organisations that need a considered answer rather than more officers.
Most security spending in Los Angeles is decided reactively. Something happens, somebody demands that something be done, and a guard appears at a door. Six months later nobody can say whether that post reduced the risk it was bought to address, because nobody defined the risk in the first place.
Risk advisory is the work that comes before that decision. We assess what actually threatens your organisation, what your current measures genuinely do, where the gaps are, and what a proportionate response costs. The output is a written report and a plan you own, not a proposal for services.
We say that plainly because it matters to how you read this page. We are a licensed security company and we do provide officers. On advisory engagements, our recommendations frequently include reducing guard hours, reallocating them, or replacing them with technology. If a report cannot tell you to spend less, it is not advice, it is a sales document.
Tell us what is prompting the review. Initial conversations are free and confidential, with no obligation to proceed.
Engagements are scoped to what you actually need. Most organisations start with one of the following and add others once the first report shows them where the real exposure sits.
A structured review of your site, your operations and your existing measures, producing a written assessment of credible threats, current vulnerabilities and prioritised recommendations with indicative costs.
Support for California employers meeting their obligations under Labor Code 6401.9, introduced by SB 553. Plan development, hazard assessment, training support and incident log procedures. Covered in detail in the next section.
A multi year plan for organisations with several sites or a major development ahead, sequencing physical security, technology and staffing investment so each phase builds on the last rather than replacing it.
Reviewing what your security programme says it does against what it actually does. Post orders, escalation paths, incident procedures, access policies and emergency response plans.
Independent assessment of camera coverage, access control, lighting, fencing and alarm systems, with recommendations that are not tied to any vendor or product line.
Structured assessment of a defined concern such as a terminated employee, a domestic situation reaching the workplace, a fixated individual or a credible threat against a leader.
Evacuation, lockdown, active threat and seismic response planning appropriate to Los Angeles, including tabletop exercises to test whether your plan survives contact with reality.
Describe what is prompting the question. Initial conversations are free, confidential and frequently end with us telling somebody their existing arrangements are adequate.
Consulting is a specific discipline and it is worth being concrete about the work, because the term is used loosely in this industry and often means a salesperson with a clipboard.
On a typical assessment engagement, one of our consultants will:
What a consultant should not do is arrive with the conclusion already written. If the recommendations of an assessment happen to match exactly the services the assessing company sells, that is not a coincidence and you should treat the report accordingly, including when the company is us.
Sometimes the honest answer is guards, and quickly. Sometimes buying them is the most expensive way to avoid thinking about a problem. This is roughly how we tell the difference.
| Comparison point | Risk Advisory and Consulting | Guard Services |
|---|---|---|
| Buy when | You do not yet know what the right answer is | You already know what needs covering |
| Answers | What is the actual risk and what is proportionate | Who stands where, and when |
| Deliverable | A written report and plan you own | Officers on post |
| Timeframe | Weeks, and it informs years of spending | Days, and it starts immediately |
| Priced as | Fixed project fee | Hourly rate per post |
| Common trigger | An incident, an insurer, a merger, a compliance deadline | A specific site with a specific gap |
Choose consulting if you are spending on security without knowing whether it works, you face a compliance obligation such as SB 553, an insurer or client has asked for an assessment, or you are planning a development and want security designed in rather than added later.
Choose guard services if you have a defined gap at a defined place and you need it covered. That is most situations, and consulting would only slow you down.
Where an assessment recommends staffing, we will price it and you are free to take it elsewhere. Several of our advisory clients use other providers for their guard coverage, and the report is written on the assumption that they might.

Facilities managing patient aggression, controlled substances and staff safety obligations under sector specific standards.
Emergency preparedness, access control review and threat assessment protocols for institutions carrying an obligation to students.
Security designed into a development at the drawing stage, which costs a fraction of retrofitting it after the first incident.
Multi site operators wanting consistent standards and a defensible position when something happens at one location.
Sites where loss, access control and workforce safety intersect, and where guard spend often outlives the risk that justified it.
Organisations whose clients or regulators expect documented security governance rather than informal arrangements.
Studios, productions and agencies managing talent exposure, location risk and situations involving fixated individuals.
Businesses balancing state compliance requirements with genuine loss exposure from cash and product.
Confidential residential and personal risk assessments where the household, not a company, is the client.
Organisations that need credible preparedness and threat assessment on limited budgets, where advice is worth more than staffing.
We provide risk advisory and security consulting across Los Angeles County, including:
Consulting is less dependent on proximity than guarding, but local knowledge still changes the quality of the assessment. Crime patterns, LAPD division response realities, county fire requirements, local ordinances and how quickly a given neighbourhood changes are all things a consultant either knows or guesses at.
We assess sites across the county and we work with organisations whose operations extend beyond it. For multi site clients we build one assessment framework applied consistently at every location, so you can compare sites against each other rather than reading eleven unrelated reports.
Do not see your neighborhood? We cover all of Los Angeles County. Call +1 714-760-5385 and ask.
Our assessments regularly recommend cutting guard hours, reallocating them or replacing them with technology. That is the test of whether advice is independent, and it is the reason clients trust the reports that do recommend staffing.
Consulting stands on the individual doing it. Our consultants hold the credentials and carry the operational background listed here, and you will meet the person doing your assessment before you commit to anything.
You receive a full report with findings, prioritised recommendations, indicative costs and a sequence. It is yours, and you can take it to any provider, including our competitors.
We do not resell cameras, access control or alarm systems and we take no commission from anyone who does. Technology recommendations are made on merit alone.
Unlike pure consultancies, we run guard operations across Los Angeles County every day. Recommendations are tested against what actually happens on a post at 3am rather than what should happen in theory.
Operational experience across this county, applied to advisory work. We have seen which measures hold up here and which ones look impressive in a report and fail in practice.
Advisory work is priced as a fixed project fee agreed before it starts, not as an hourly rate. You know the cost and the deliverable in advance. Five things determine the fee.
A single site risk assessment and a multi site security master plan are different pieces of work. Scope is agreed in writing first, including what is deliberately excluded, so the fee cannot drift.
Multi site assessments price better per location because the framework, the interviews and the reporting structure are reused across all of them.
A focused review of one concern costs considerably less than a full vulnerability assessment with staff interviews, night observation and testing of existing measures.
SB 553 support ranges from reviewing an existing plan, which is quick, to building a programme from nothing with hazard assessment and training delivery, which is not.
Some clients take an annual review at a reduced fee, because compliance obligations are continuing and a plan written once decays. Others take a single engagement and manage it internally afterwards.
Bilingual officers, executive protection experience, plain clothes assignments, cannabis compliance familiarity or client mandated training all narrow the pool and affect the rate.
What we do commit to: a fixed fee and a defined deliverable agreed in writing before work starts, a free initial consultation, and a report written to be useful to you rather than to us. If the assessment concludes that your current arrangements are adequate, that is what the report will say, and we will still charge only the agreed fee. That outcome is more common than the industry likes to admit.
Call +1 714-760-5385 or book a consultation online. We discuss what is prompting the review, whether it is an incident, an insurer, a compliance deadline or a general unease. Confidential, and free.
You receive a proposal setting out exactly what will be assessed, what is out of scope, who will do the work, what you will receive and the fixed fee. Nothing begins until you approve it.
We conduct the work, usually including site visits at the hours that matter and staff interviews. You receive a draft within [ASSESSMENT TIMEFRAME], then we walk you through the findings and finalise it.
You are under no obligation to use us for anything the report recommends, and the report is written on that basis. Several of our advisory clients staff their sites through other providers, which is exactly as it should be.
Structured assessment of what genuinely threatens your organisation, how well your current measures address it and what a proportionate response would cost. The deliverable is a written report and plan, not a proposal for services. It is bought by organisations that want to know whether their security spending is working before they increase it.
SB 553 created Labor Code section 6401.9, effective 1 July 2024, and it applies to virtually every California employer. You must have a written Workplace Violence Prevention Plan, a process for identifying and correcting workplace violence hazards, employee training, procedures for responding to and investigating incidents, and recordkeeping including a violent incident log. Exemptions are narrow. We help you meet the operational requirements and we will always recommend your employment counsel confirms the legal detail.
Probably not on its own. The obligations are ongoing rather than one off, covering training, hazard assessment, incident investigation and log maintenance. A plan written once and never revisited is the most common gap we find, and it is the gap that matters after an incident.
Not necessarily, and often the opposite. Our assessments regularly recommend reducing guard hours, reallocating them or replacing them with technology. The report is yours outright and you can take it to any provider. If a consultant is unwilling to recommend spending less, the report is a sales document.
Typically a draft within [ASSESSMENT TIMEFRAME] for a single site, longer for multi site or master planning work. The scope and timeline are fixed in writing before anything begins.
It is a fixed project fee agreed in advance, not an hourly rate. The figure depends on scope, number of sites, depth of assessment, how much compliance work is involved and whether you want an ongoing annual review.
No. We do not resell security technology and we take no commission from anyone who does, which is what allows technology recommendations to be made on merit. You buy from whoever you choose.
Yes. Assessments routinely surface uncomfortable findings about staff, procedures and prior decisions. Engagements are covered by confidentiality agreements, the report goes to whoever you designate and to nobody else, and we do not name advisory clients.
Tell us what is prompting the review. We will scope the work, fix the fee in writing and give you findings you own outright, whether or not they point back to us. Free initial consultation, entirely confidential.
