An eight hour weekday post costs less per hour than a four hour Saturday evening one. Long, predictable schedules are easier to staff and cheaper to run, and we pass that on.
Overnight, weekend and holiday hours carry a premium because officers are paid more to work them. A 24 hour gate post needs three shifts, so price it as three.
A lobby in a Class A building needs a different officer from a warehouse gate. Presentation, language, front of house skill and specific industry experience all narrow the pool and affect the rate.
Armed posts carry a firearms permit, range qualification and heavier insurance, typically 30 to 50 percent above unarmed. Most standing posts in Los Angeles do not need it.
